Project
Work Loft
New York / USA, 1991
Description
After our client lived in this Greenwich Village loft building residence we designed, they added another floor (not adjacent, hence no connecting stair) for their work lives. She is a writer and he is a film producer and the project is a simple enfilade of offices at opposite ends with a screening room and exercise room in between.

This additional floor allows guests to stay close, but not too close, and we crafted a black and white glass bathroom for their use. The south office was raised to window sill height to increase the views and provide a more intimate writing space, while the screening room was lined in gray felt for the feeling of large room acoustics.

Our concept for the space created a sequence of spaces that embraced variety and solved each space in its own terms.
