Design philosophy

Design is first a dialogue that begins with respect and understanding of the site, its nature and constrictions as well as the intrinsic desires and needs of the client. Then comes the creative genesis, the identification of the project's goal or potential, where it can go, how to develop its subtle and complex elements interrelating them into walls, floors, enclosures openings, lighting and more. After an essential idea that employs the use of space and light is conceived, a series of layers are juxtaposed to the raw form giving it materiality, color, texture and detail. Underlining the process is the indispensable element of time, the use of the space over a series of years or decades, its ability to last and be flexible to different needs, as well as its capacity to survive transformation.

The question that should be asked throughout the design process is: "Is this what this really should be?” The goal of design is to create an object that is so intelligent that it is beautiful.
