Philosophy

Working with forms that emphasize the fluid overlap of space, thread collective brings a flexibility and complexity to their articulation of the client's needs. A broadly defined notion of sustainability, existing site characteristics, and the sensory experience of the user further inform and strengthen their design process. thread collective explores the seams between building, art and landscape,  not only as disciplinary boundaries to be blurred, but as spatial edges, rich with design opportunity.

A licensed architecture studio, the three partners’ varied and complementary interests allow them to take on a wide range of projects and scales.

Green Philosophy

thread collective integrates sustainable principles in every aspect of our design process.  We take on a wide range of green projects, from consultations and small-scale renovations, to ground up new construction.  We are particularly committed to incorporating sustainability at the outset of the design, as it ensures an efficient, well thought out building with cohesively designed systems, and beautiful spaces.

Making decisions is one of the most challenging aspects of green design. thread collective brings a deep understanding of sustainable issues to our projects, educating our clients to help them make informed decisions throughout the process.

thread collective is an accredited professional with the USGBC, using LEED guidelines on several ground up buildings currently in design, and aims to achieve certification for them through this program.  In addition, thread has experience working with NYSERDA in their solar and new construction program, securing funding and incentive packages for their clients.
