DGA completed work in 2003 on the development of a comprehensive lighting strategy for the nighttime illumination of the historic Shelby Street Bridge. DGA’s scope included the lighting of the bridge approach ramps, bridge lookouts, walkways, bridge super structure and support pylons, for this $15.1 million adaptive reuse project. Originally constructed in 1908, the bridge links Nashville’s revitalized historic downtown with its new football stadium. Originally issued for vehicle access, the lighting program installation was scheduled to coordinate with its new adaptive reuse as a pedestrian-only by way.
