From brownfield to LEED Gold achievement, Nashville’s new Riverfront Park offers visitors greenways, dog runs, play areas, ornamental gardens and – it being Music City – an amphitheater shaped to evoke a Gretsch guitar amplifier. Extremely energy efficient lighting designed to preserve nighttime views of downtown, provide a safe and welcoming environment, joined with an aggressive 22-month design-to-opening schedule challenged the designers. Fully dimmable, all-LED lighting was finely-tuned to integrate with landscape elements and accent local materials. Key to revealing form, color-changing lighting grazes select amphitheater elements while other surfaces are allowed to fall into shadow. Nashville’s newest nighttime beacon doesn’t disappoint
