The memorial hall is built in memory of Hu Huishan. Hu Huishan, a female student of Dujiangyan High School, was born in 1993 and died in the Sichuan Wenchuan earthquake on May 12, 2008. The shape of the building is based on the shelter in the earthquake-stricken zone: it was a commonplace during the rescue. For the exterior, the walls are plastered in the vernacular way. As for the interior, the walls are painted in pink color - Hu Huishan's favorite color - and decorated with the remaining items left from Hu. The light through the skylight brighten up the space and makes it pure and delicate. The memorial is not only for Hu, but also for every ordinary life killed by the earthquake.
* According to the offcial report, over 58,712 people were killed by Wenchuan earthquake in 2008 and 5335 of them were students.
